The haunting
The screams ran around the dark angel's ears. His body frozen and his eyes wide taking in the scene that lay infront of him. Cut after cut. Kiss after kiss. Screams of pleasure and pain mingling together in a symphony of confussion. The dark angel fell to his knees infront of the demon and brought his hands up to cover his face letting out a sob. Slender fingers slipped under his chin and tilted his head up. The dark angel uncovered his face and stared up at the beautiful face before him.
"Mon Dieu, Are you crying, Mon Ange? You shed tears for this?" Tanner gritted his teeth and ripped his head out of Jack's hand turning his face away from Jack. "Stop it... Just stop it..." Tanner whispered softly. "What? You always said you liked it when I spoke french. You really have to learn to make up your mind, Tanner." Tanner felt his eyes close and a cold chill pass through his body when Jack's fingers ran through his hair.
Again he could not fight the want to pull Jack close and kiss him. Even when behind Jack, Craven's wings were being torn appart by various demons, Aubrey was being fucked into a bed by none other then his father and Camron was being raped over and over again by the other french demon, Grim. All the people he cared about and at the lead of it all was Jack now looming over Tanner's shaking body.
Tanner instantly got to his feet and cut into Jack's mind making the demon close his eyes with pleasure. "Do it again Tanner. It hurts. Deeper..." Tanner screamed out in anger and reached for Jack's throat but Jack was quicker. His leg shot out and the angel hit the ground with a groan. Slowly Jack mounted him and pinned his hands above his head. Tanner looked up into Jack's smirking face as the demon leaned down to nibble at his bottom lip and whisper into his mouth. "Vous appartenez à moi pour toujours."
Tanner groaned out when he felt Jack grinding against him and captured Jack's lips with his kissing him hard. Jack pulled back slightly. "Hurt me. You do it so well..." Tanner closed his eyes tightly wincing at Jack's word then started cutting across his old lovers body. "Tanner... " " Tanner! " "Dad! Help me!" "Tanner wake up!"
Tanner lava eyes snapped open expedting to see Jack sitting onto of him. Instead it was his brother. Craven frowned down at him, a scar on his cheek in the process of healing. "Tanner! You're making scars everywhere. You're gonna kill one of us!" Tanner blinked a couple of times at his brother trying to get his focus back after the dream he had just had then let his eyes wander across the walls. Oh god. His eyes flicked to Camron then back to Craven. He had to get out of here.
"Get off me!" Tanner shoved his brother off him and Craven hit the floor hard. Tanner scrambled from his bed and grabbed his jacket then bolted out the door. "Tan!!"
~~~
Tanner folded his wings after landing and slowly let his eyes drift closed in the silence of the park. He was safe here. He was safe when he was awake. No Jack. No Aubrey and no screaming. Tanner took a deep breath ... and if there were any damned demons they'd picked the wrong guy to kill. Tanner moved to one of the burnt out trees and leaned back against it slowly slipping down to sit on the ground. "God damn it, Tanner. Stop being a pussy. " Tanner ran his fingers though his hair. "You're having wet dreams about a pommy demon."
Tanner gasped and twisted round when he heard a sound in the forrest. He peered into the darkness and slowly got to his feet. "You gonna be a coward and hide or show your face so we can get this over with, scum?" His heart was racing but his voice remained level and calm.
Tanner's eyes widened and he froze in place as his dark, beautiful ghost materialized to haunt him into submission. He'd have fallen to his knees infront of Jack just there and then if it was not for the kiss. Tanner's lips parted at the kiss his eye glowing with fire at what was happening. From his dark shadowy dreams Tanner had to call forth the thing that he had a weakness for.
The kiss though... it told him that Jack had the same weakness for him. It would take one of the others to kill Jack for Tanner. To stop his dreams to stop the hauntings. It would also take the rest of the resistance to hold Tanner back from protecting Jack. Just like some sick little pet... Tanner was still willing to protect the demon he was kissing back.
Finally the dark angel snapped out of it. He moved his hand to grip at the back of Jack's neck. A long deep cut flowed from where Tanner's hand ended, down Jack's spine to just above his denims. Tanner broke the kiss leaving a split lip in its wake. "Is that what you wanted Jack?" Tanner's lava eyes flashed open and looked into Jack's dark demon-like eyes.
He let thumb trailed a red angry scar down the side of Jack's neck. "Someone to be your God? Someone to condemn you? You sick sad Masochistic demon..." Tanner's dark red eyes took in his old lovers appearance. This was just another dream. Jack was dead. He was sure of it.
Tanner took in a sharp breath and tilted his head to the side, claiming Jack's lips again. His free hand moved to the middle of Jack's back and he pulled his old lover against him, pressing his own body against Jacks. All the nights that he had dreamed of Jack. All the times he had lost himself in Jack's kisses. His taunting words. His begging to be hurt.
Jack, the rumoured demon. The ghost of his past. The core of his longing. The epitomy of not turning back. Somehow Jack was here. Somehow his ghost was haunting him even now. He felt wide awake. Jack felt real. Tanner jerked back breaking the kiss. "What do you want?"
Tanner's whispered words brushed against Jack's lips. His hands tightened, one on Jack's shirt, the other on the back of Jack's neck. He wanted to break Jack... Break him in half so he would be haunted no more. That was only one side of Tanner's feelings towards Jack. The other side had longed for that kiss. Longed for the touch and the taste.
Tanner wanted Jack. Underneath the angel, Screaming in pain and moaning in pleasure. Whispering meaningless french curses and words of love. Skin pressed to skin. Sweat and blood mingling together in one of Tanner's favourite cocktails. Tanner didn't know which desire was the strongest. He feared the latter. He feared that some part of him was still trapped and in love with the frenchman.
The one who would not have let Tanner fade. Yet... look. Tanner had let his Jack fade. It was Tanner's fault that this Jack existed. It was Tanner's fault that his wife and daughter were dead. Then again. It was not Tanner's fault that he was a killer. Brutal and blood thirsty. That was all down to his makers.
"Stop haunting me. Stop following me around like some love sick bitch. Bring an army and lets fight it out. Better yet... bring the horseman... Go on get them..." Tanner couldn't help but whisper the words through gritted teeth. Still he could not let Jack go. His grip grew tighter. He could feel Jack's neck shift in his grip.
His breath came out in soft gasps as he pressed his forehead against Jack's closing his red eyes. It was obvious that his words carried little meaning. Not towards Jack anyway. The last thing he wanted to do right now was fight it out.
He pulled Jack closer, and Jack moved his hands from Tanner's neck to allow his body to press as close to him as possible. One hand moved under Tanner's arm to clutch at Tanner's upper back and shoulder, while his other slipped down to hold his waist. Yes, this would be rather easy, he thought, playing gentle with the kiss, and caresssing Tanner's tongue with his in what seems loving. The kiss was broken by Tanner again, and against Jack's lips he asked what he wanted. Jack looked at him with loss in his eyes, and brushed his lips from side to side against his softly, whispering against them. "I don't understand..." He massaged Tanner should softly, rubbing his nose against his, burying the urge to snerk at the "eskimo kissing" thoughts going through his head. "Tanner?" He made his voice sound as if he was searching for something. His next set of words Jack had to fight not to laugh at even more, forcing a look of complete confusion all across his features. "Tanner... haunting? Army? Horseman?" He moved his hands back to Tanner's neck, using his thumbs to gently make Tanner's back tip back so Jack could look at him with looks of worry in his eyes. This might actually prove a bit difficult. He had to watch every little thing he did, to make it seem like the old him. It was difficult. "What's the wrong? What's going on?" He wondered if his performance was good enough. He was pretty sure he'd have Grim going, this was for sure. [/ul] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The confussion in Jack's eyes made even Tanner frown in response. His hands loosened on Jack's neck and he looked into Jack's eyes. What was going on? That moan? It wasn't like the demon Jack. Not the one in his dreams and not the one he had the brief memories of. It was the moan that had belonged to the old Jack. The one Tanner had attempted to be careful to hurt.
The one he had treated in the same manner he had treated Aubrey. With affection and love. The demon Jack on the other hand would be whispering for more. More pain and more hurt and more anger. The demons loved it. They thrived on it. No wonder having Tanner on their leashes would be the greatest gift ever. Untamable, wild and blood lusting.
Tanner was a true killer and the perfect tool. This was exactly the reason why his father had kept such a dangerous thing under his control. Cooper had kept him under control by using the one thing Tanner feared the most. Being alone in complete and utter darkness. Making Tanner believe he was in that very possition had turned Tanner from confident into a frightened child.
It was the perfect punishment to keep Tanner in line and obedient to his master. Now though. Tanner was the master of his own life and existance and the leader of his own group. He'd like to have thought he was strong enough to make the right decisions but this? This was different. Tanner looked deep into Jack's face trying to pick out the truth from a lie.
Was this the demon Jack? Was it his Jack? The arms that wrapped around Tanner. Clung to Tanner like the leader of the resistance was the only thing on this God forsaken earth that would keep Jack alive. Jack's lips brushed against his. Gentle touches. All gentle and loving. Like the old Jack. Tanner could feel his heart swell with hope.
It was racing already. His breath caught when he heard his name whispered against his lips and his eyes flashed open only to be met with confusion in Jack's. Tanner lifted his head and looked into Jack's eyes his own narrowing. Silence fell. A calculating silence on Tanner's behalf as his mind explored every possibility of what could have happened to bring his old Jack back in his arms.
His eyes examined Jack's features with maticulous actions. Tanners lips were parted in concentration as he watched Jack intently. How could this be a simple trick? Why? If Jack wanted him dead he wouldn't play tricks like this, would he? If Jack wanted him captured there wouldn't be pretending to be nice involved in it would there? Tanner moved his hand to cup Jack's face tilting his head to the side.
"Thats what I'd like to know. What is going on Jack?" He let his thumb brush across Jack's bottom lip tracing it while he let his eyes linger there. "I don't know what to believe. Whether you're a demon or really my Jack? Is that even possible?"
Tanner's eyes flicked up to Jack's. They were filled with pain and hurt. More confusion then he was sure Jack was showing. "All I wanna do right now is hold you. Wrap you in my wings and tell you that everything's fine now but there are others to consider. I have my son and brother and the rest of the resistance. Explain to me what happened to you..."
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [/i] thrilled him. He surpressed a low growl, and fought his features to make sure they kept screwed into the "I-don't-understand" look. Also the pained and hurtful look. Ugh, he was definitly going to be hearing about this later from someone. He just hoped they had the intelligence to do it when he was in a good mood. Throwing people into the smelter bothered Grim's nose, and he wished Jack would stop. He made a sort of "I don't know" look at Tanner's question, forcing a very small frown onto his face and making it seem as if he was thinking, and mouth opening slightly at the thumb trailing along his lower lip. Trying to understand and trying to answer. His eyes lingered for a bit until Tanner mentioned the word Demon, where Jack forced his eyebrows into a heavy frown, riddled his eyes in pain, hurt, and wide confusion, and snapped back to staring at Tanner. He stared at Tanner for a moment, and then watched as Tanner slowly brought his eyes up to his. There was confusion there. Yep. He had him. Explain to me what happened to you... Oh, nothing. Just fucking with you,[/i] Jack thought, forcing his face to stay motionless as a grin fought it's way through his mouth's defences. Jack shook his head and closed his eyes, looking down and feigining thinking, one of his hands moving to grasp Tanner's wrist near Jack's cheek. He waited for a moment, shaking his head every so often, faking going through memories. His photographic memory gave him perfect images of his death, and Jack enjoyed rewatching them in his head over and over. The look on Tanner's face, the falling to the ground as he tried to catch him. Jack reaching out for him. Made him giggle usually. He figured this reinactment of the old Jack would probably not giggle over this. Finally, he opened his mouth and let his voice go shakey and kind of quiet. Time to reinact his suicide. The moment where he had flung himself through the top window of a 15 story building. Tanner had been there, and the old Jack hadn't known until he was falling to the ground. And Jack remembered thinking "Oh god, no... what have I done?" before hitting the ground, which snapped his neck. An automatic death for Jack. "... Last thing I remember is reaching for you. And falling, and thinking how stupid I was." He made himself sound kind of angry and sad at the same time. He forced his body to shake a little. Had to make it realistic, yes. "... then nothing. Not for a long time. I feel... broken. Up until a little while ago, I even felt very contained. Then I remember hearing something break... and then I was rushing around, frantically trying to find something I recognized." He made his voice less shakey at this, more just trying to remember everything, staring intently at Tanner's chest. "Finally, I got out of where ever I was... and I was standing in a destroyed room. Took me a second, but after a while I realized I was in the rock. Then all my memories hit me and I had to come find you" He looked up at Tanner again, filling his eyes with bushels of sadness. "I had to see if you were alright. And here you are. My angel..." he reached out and brushed Tanner's cheek, biting his bottom lip, as if trying to make it stop crying. Somehow, this was making sense. As much as Tanner's logical mind was denying it his emotions were telling him a different story. After loosing just about everything in his sad pathetic life why couldn't something... just one damned thing just go right? Why did he have to suffer all the fucking time? Why did his life just consist of disappointment after disappointment? Pain and hardship?
Why couldn't he just have the one thing he loved and keep it? He'd had enough. He'd had enough of getting hurt and keeping a brave face and keeping his semi-sane mind in working order as opposed to the animal inside of him that wanted to rip everything to shreds. He was doing his damndest to keep the citizens that were still living and under his protection alive and well.
Tanner's jaw clenched and worked as Jack began to speak removing his touch from his old lover. His hands clenched into fists by his sides as he watched Jack tremble and reinact his death. Tanner's eyes closed and he listened to that first sentance. His hand moved to run through his blond hair as he tried very hard to keep from screaming out at the memory.
His nightmares had drifted around that moment in his life for practically two years after Jack's death. The crunch that echoed in his ears when Jack's body hit the pavement. The squeel of cars and then everything had slowed to a near stop as the Grimley had landed beside the sprawled body. It had been the second time he had cried in his life. Not even as a child had he shed a tear for anything.
Tanner kept himself from shedding those same tears now. He held himself responsible. For Aubrey's suicide. For Jack's suicide. Tanner had managed to make every bloody lover around him drop dead whether he wanted them to or not. He swallowed hard as Jack's touch to his cheek made him come back from the sad pit he had fallen into.
He snapped his head away from Jack's hand. "Do me a favour and stop refering to me as your angel would you? And don't ever speak french to me again. Ever..." His eyes fixed on Jack and he gave a heavy sigh as he thought about what to do next. He swallowed hard and slowly took a step away from Jack.
"Listen, since you're alive... I think you should stay away from me. I mean I am the reason you jumped...And I need time to work through this story you just gave me. I need to get my head straight...You need to ... have a safe place to stay. Craven can stay with you. " Tanner thought it was for the best if he just didn't have any contact with anyone that could actually die...
That is where Hale was his perfect trick. Hale wasn't evil. Hale wasn't out to get him. Hale just needed to be held occasionally after a rather steamy session of screaming and moaning. There were no strings attached. There were no hurt or pained feelings when they each had other lovers they desired to try out... not that Tanner did that anymore.
Most of all Hale would not go kill himself because Tanner broke his heart because the Vampire had no heart. Not that Tanner knew of anyway. Hale kept his secrets locked up and so did Tanner. It was just easier that way. It was easier to pretend you were alright when you weren't, it was easier to deal with the painful truth that you weren't strong enough to save your loved once.
It was easier pretending that you didn't care. That a fuck was a fuck and that was where it ended. Tanner dropped his eyes away from Jack. "You're better off without me. Do you understand Jack?"
